A dental emergency?

A bracket has come loose

This usually isn't painful. Keep the bracket if it's still on the wire and avoid hard or sticky food. Contact the practice to arrange a rebonding appointment.

A wire is poking or hurting

You can cover the end of the wire with a little orthodontic wax until your appointment. Contact the practice if the discomfort persists.

The appliance is broken

Keep the pieces and avoid wearing the appliance if it could cause injury. Contact the practice promptly to assess the repair needed.

An aligner is lost or broken

If possible, go back to the previous aligner in the meantime, and contact the practice: a new aligner or an adjustment to the treatment plan may be needed.

The retainer has come off

A loose retainer can allow teeth to shift again: contact the practice promptly for a rebonding or replacement appointment.

Pain after an adjustment

Some discomfort for a few days after an adjustment is normal. If the pain is intense or persists, contact the practice.

This information is general and does not replace an examination. If in doubt, contact the practice.
